KROTON KOLONO Colonoscopy Trainer (END001)
KROTON KOLONO, a training phantom device for colonscopy, has been produced to offer value added training for both young doctors and experienced medical practitioners. We have accurately reproduced the shape of the colon. Innovative device structure with 15 ports allows for the development of interesting training scenarios and performing specific medical procedures. With an option to connect the small bowel, you can additionally practice enteroscopy procedure. Materials used to make the lower section of the digestive tract model were selected to precisely mirror human anatomy. They were mainly made of carefully selected silicon materials to ensure that the training will be as realistic as actual procedures. Colours of the components ensure realistic colour reproduction during training.
The simulator allows to practice both on a healthy colon, and on a colon with lesions. Models of pathological lesions supplied with the trainer include a wide array of most common problems. Practising with KROTON KOLONO, improves your skills, which directly translates into less pain and trauma for patients. If a doctor initially trains on our simulator, it gives him/her confidence and skills necessary to complete the real-life procedure faster and more efficiently. Looking at people who practice on our trainers, can help us safely assess the level of their skills.
Components of the trainer:
- Large intestine (Colon) — the model is equipped with all sections that are present in the human organ, namely: rectum, sigmoid colon, descending colon, transverse colon, ascending colon, cecum and Bauhin's valve (ileocecal valve). Large intestine was constructed based on a CT scan. The colon has 15 ports.
- Small intestine — 60 cm long section. The module facilitates enteroscopy training — a double-balloon or single-balloon examination.
- Body — is used only to attach the colon in a desired position. Adjusted to be put in three positions that imitate positioning of a patient on his back and on his left or right side. Spring-loaded hooks stabilize the colon when practising in vertical position.
- Cover — the cover's main purpose is to prevent users from looking directly inside the phantom during training, so that a user could not know the actual position of the endoscope's tip.
- Components inserted into the trainer — the trainer set includes a large number of inserts for the colon. Their role is to ensure significant portion of educational value. They allow for creating many training scenarios. Component types are described below:
- Plugs — used to simulate correct anatomy.
- Digits — the set includes 15 numbered inserts from 1 to 15, and our task is to find consecutive numbers.
- Polyps of different shapes and sizes.
- Juvenile polyps.
- Diverticulitis.
- Adenoma.
