The model was created to provide valuable bronchoscopy training with endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA). The internal shape of the model (bronchial tree) is based on computed tomography scans, resulting in a faithful replication of the bronchial tree's branching. The model's material was chosen to accurately replicate the echogenicity of the examined area of the human body, which translates to the EBUS probe image on the monitor. The phantom accurately mimics the color and physical properties of human organs. Elements imitating five tumors are made from a different material than the rest of the model, providing a darker image than the surrounding tissue. These are selected to simulate real anatomical changes that can be punctured.
